Benita Serena Cassar Torreggiani
Founder & Chairperson
New York City, USA - Gozo, MaltaBenita’s (Serena) is a Creative - Documentary Director & Producer of integrated media based in New York City, USA and Gozo, Malta. Her adventurist spirit finally caught up with her while visiting Tanzania in East Africa. Seizing the opportunity to ‘get involved’ in humanitarian work while developing a travel app for the Tanzania Tourist Board, she set up Be The Rain Trust (BTRT) in 2015, a registered Tanzania non profit corporation with the United Republic of Tanzania Registration Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA). Serena oversees every sponsors’ donation, decision, commitments and operations together with the BTRT Board of Directors & Special Advisors.

Dawn Marie Wells
Secretary
New York City, USA - La Rochelle, FranceDawn Wells is an enthusiastic global development professional with expertise as a social entrepreneur, public-private partnerships, and managing logistics and budgets for dynamic projects. Her research includes qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex systems and economic valuation related to natural resources, land management systems, and related externalities. She holds a degree in Sustainable Development from Columbia University, and presently supports UN Women in the Programmes Division, Africa Section.

Willy Lyimo
Board Treasurer
Arusha, TanzaniaWilly K. Lyimo is a seasoned Tanzanian tourism professional with over 30 years of experience at the executive level in tourism management, marketing, and government service. His diverse international background include a MSc. (Economics of International Tourism) from the Higher Institute Of Economics, Varna, Bulgaria (1984–1990), Diplomas in Tourism & Travel Agency Management from the UK (1993), Tourism Planning, Development, and Management from Israel (2000) and, in Tourism Planning, Madrid, Spain. Mr. Lyimo speaks Swedish, Russian, English and his native Kiswahili. His years of experience working in Tanzania has been invaluable for Be The Rain Trust.

Dr. Johnson Saiteu Laizer PhD
Board Special Advisor
Karatu, TanzaniaDr. Johnson Saiteu Laizer is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in procurement, logistics, and public sector management. He holds a PhD in Business Administration and an MBA in Transport and Logistics Management, and is a Certified Procurement and Supplies Professional (CPSP). Born and raised in the Arusha Region, Dr. Laizer began his educational journey humbly under a tree at Lositete Primary School in Karatu District, near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Through dedication and resilience, he advanced to the highest levels of education and professional achievement.

Anne Emil
Consultant – Community Development Projects & Management
Anne Emil is a consultant specializing in community development projects and management, with over 10 years of experience in communication, administration, and organizational leadership. She has worked extensively with international organizations, including serving as Project Manager and Administrator in East Africa for the Australian Volunteers Program (AVP), where she played a key role in program delivery and stakeholder coordination.
IN MEMORIAM
Liz Fonary Moshi
It is with great sadness that Be The Rain Trust has lost our dear Lizbeth Fonary Moshi. Liz was with us from the very beginning and instrumental in the process of our becoming a nonprofit Tanzania corporation. Liz went on to complete her BA at Kampala University then in December 2019 completed her MBA in China. With her business savvy, style and entrepreneurial spirit we expected Liz to reach great heights. Sadly her life was taken from her at 29 years due to cardiac arrest.
We thank Liz for her invaluable impact on Be The Rain Trust. We send our sincerest condolences to her family.
