Naiyobi Village, Ngorongoro Water Tank Project

Join us: Visit an authentic Maasai village in Ngorongoro.

We welcome you to join us in March 2018 for an overnight visit with the community before the long rains.

We ask you please to donate your special photos and videos as a contribution towards our fundraising efforts. Your vision and documentation of Naiyobi Village will be invaluable help to Be The Rain Trust’s efforts in raising $43,000 to cover the costs to build a water tank suitable to provide clean water storage for over 15,000 pastoralists and thousands of livestock.

This visit is authentic and not a tourism attraction. You will meet local villagers and have a chance to share your life with them. We encourage you to bring lots of photos and video of what your life is like.

Naiyobi Village is not far from the famous World Heritage Site Ngorongoro Crater. Due to road conditions, one can expect a good 3 hour drive to the village from the Ngorongoro Gate.  One can also stop along the way to visit or hike down the Empaakai Crater or continue past Naiyobi Village on an alternative route to Lake Natron to view the Flamingo breeding areas. Naiyobi Village overlooks the famous mountain Ol’donyo Lengai or ‘Mountain of God’, the Maasai God.

Accommodation options depend on your interest and budget.  One can stay in the village in an authentic Boma (home) or stay approximately two hours away in lodges or camps in Ngorongoro or Lake Natron.

Be The Rain Trust works with reputable government registered Tour Operators in Tanzania who can work with all budgets.  Home stays in the Village will be at a minimal cost.
